Apparently this led to calls for changes in the creative head of the show, which split Netflix and Marvel along irreconcilable lines - for Luke Cage at least. It's been said that the writers' room turned in to Marvel and Netflix "detailed drafts" for five episodes of a potential new season during the week of Monday, October 15.

Given how Iron Fist ended, on a much more fun pulpy tone, and Luke Cage's status quo as well, both those characters could easily fit into the more PG-13 Disney Play plans easily, right alongside the other Marvel TV series they're planning. Many also have their fingers crossed that Simone Missick's badass police detective Misty Knight from Luke Cage and Jessica Henwick's Colleen Wing and Alice Eve's Mary Walker from Iron Fist will link up for a possible Daughters of the Dragon show.

Marvel and Netflix issued a joint statement after the series was cancelled, praising the cast, crew, and fan base for their support and work on the series.

"I am forever grateful to Marvel and Netflix for letting me portray such a prolific character, and I thank you wonderful fans", he wrote alongside a photo of him with his newborn.

Sources told Deadline that Netflix and Marvel executives weren't happy with the "developed scripts" even after their suggestions were included. We're thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we've shared on this series.

But is there more to the story? Disney is expected to launch its own streaming service next year and now that it owns Marvel, Disney could possibly resurrect these shows on its own platform. I am forever grateful to Marvel and Netflix for letting me portray such a prolific character and thank the awesome fans. Both Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are slated to reprise their big-screen personas for the small screen.

Will Daredevil be the next Marvel Netflix series to get the ax? Are you down with a Heroes for Hire series?
