Denver Broncos Trade Demaryius Thomas To Houston Texans

Demaryius Thomas bracing for trade out of Denver

Then he arrived at Denver's football facility on trade deadline day and learned he was now part of the Texans, who essentially sent a fourth-round pick to the Broncos in exchange for the veteran receiver.

The Broncos acquired a fourth-round draft pick from the Texans and the teams will also swap seventh-round picks.

If the deal goes down, Thomas' first game will be against the Denver Broncos....in Denver.

On Monday, Schlereth said the Broncos need to move on from Demaryius Thomas in order to clear salary and to give guys like rookie Courtland Sutton more playing time. "He developed into an elite player over the years, establishing himself as one NFL's most productive, consistent and reliable wide receivers".

Thomas, 30, had spent his entire nine-year career in Denver after being selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 draft.

As Thomas makes his way to Houston, his former team wishes him all the best. He has five consecutive seasons of at least 90 catches and 1,000 receiving yards.

In regards of cap space, the Texans will acquire $4.5 million for this season and a non-guaranteed $14 million for 2019. By all accounts, Thomas is a great guy and a great teammate, which alone gets him about 80 percent of the way home in Bill O'Brien's book. And while Thomas will replace Fuller in the role he played alongside DeAndre Hopkins and Keke Coutee in the offense, it's fair to wonder whether the ninth-year pro will be capable of matching Fuller's production. Luckily for Thomas, he won't have to start looking for a house in Houston until next week, since the Broncos are actually hosting the Texans this coming Sunday.

The Broncos (3-5) will host the Texans (5-3) on Sunday.
