Chelsea icon Frank Lampard claims Eden Hazard is better than Lionel Messi

Lampard took his Derby side to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup last night.

Lampard's Derby beat Manchester United and with luck, could have come out on top against another top-six Premier League team.

As former Chelsea and Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri looked on from the stands, there was a minute's applause before kick-off in tribute to Leicester's late Thai owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, killed in a helicopter crash on Saturday. The match starts at 19:45 on 31 October 2018.

Part of the Blues' success has seen a small rise in the careers of English duo Ross Barkley and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, both of whom are thriving under Sarri in the Italian's left-sided midfield role, carrying some of the attacking burden of the team.

Where can I watch live?

Chelsea began the hospitality early by kindly granting permission for Mount and Tomori to play against them.

Unlike in the Premier League, League Cup rules allow for teams in the competition to make such agreements for players to appear against their parent clubs.

Zola was unhappy with the way Chelsea finished the encounter, while he praised Frank Lampard's Derby.

Zola admits Derby pushed them all the way.

Will Sarri finally give youth a chance?

DF Andreas Christensen, 6 - Unsettled by the speed and ferocity of Derby's pressing, he played his way into trouble a few times in a manic first half.

'Ethan Ampadu was back in training yesterday.

The Belgian forward has also won two League Cups, the FA Cup and the Europa League during his six-season stint at Stamford Bridge following a move from Lille in 2012.

Despite the gulf in stature of recent times, Derby and Chelsea have had a fairly equal record in their past meetings.

Olivier Giroud also has fatigue in one of his legs, but youngster Ethan Ampadu could be back in contention after returning to full training following a knee injury this week. It should come as no surprise that Pulis's side plays in a very Pulisian fashion, a style of play that could easily be mistaken for outright physical combat. Now he's getting that freedom.

FW Willian, 7 - Starting his 10th match in a row, the Brazilian brought the poise and guile to Chelsea's front three with his direct dribbling and close control.

Prior to the game he was asked about the potential of one day managing Chelsea.

And it is this game from which Derby can gain confidence, with the Blues switching off defensively at times.

Controversy surrounded what turned out to be the winning goal for Chelsea.

18+ only. Ts&Cs apply.

"We have two massive games coming up but we can never relax".

Perhaps that was everything, but it was hard not to link Chelsea's fluctuating concentration levels with the fact that the focus of Stamford Bridge so often drifted to the visiting dugout. That's why he scored so many goals.

Barrett Rouen: 3 - 1. It took just five minutes and a woefully misguided swing of Tomori's boot to hammer the message home, as well as set the tone for a wild and at times comically frantic contest. Chelsea showed they can produce without Eden Hazard the Great. The visitors were adamant Zappacosta had fouled Scott Malone in the build-up to the hosts' third, which was eventually dispatched crisply by Fàbregas to fly in off Carson's left hand as the goalkeeper slumped to his right.
