BlackBerry PRIV: Fast Security To Match Nexus 5X, 6P

By  |

BlackBerry may not have maintained its strong initial run with the BlackBerry PRIV in regard to commercial success, but the Canadian company remains steadfast in making sure the device lives up to its name.

PRIV is short for privacy, so in order for that to be achieved the security of the device has to be top-notch. In order for it to be top-notch it needs to receive the latest and best security updates as soon as possible.

And receive it ASAP it does. As of April 4 owners of the PRIV would have begun getting the OTA security patch from Google. This update is being sent out by BlackBerry at about the same time as Google sends it out to the Nexus 5X and 6P.

However, this update doesn’t apply to those who purchased their PRIV through carriers retailers other than directly from the company at ShopBlackBerry.com.

The 5.4-inch AMOLED Quad HD BlackBerry PRIV is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor with an Adreno 418 GPU and 3GB RAM. It has an 18MP camera, 32GB internal storage with microSD support, a 3,410mAh battery with optional Qi/PMA-enabled wireless charging compatibility, and comes out of the box with Android 5.1.1 Lollipop.
