BlackBerry PRIV: Marshmallow Knocks At The Door

By  |

Since the BlackBerry PRIV was launched in November last year, BlackBerry returned to relevance and investor were finally restoring their faith in the brand.

Although the PRIV has so far not hit the sales target set by the company, its importance cannot be overstated.

But one problem with the way the phone is designed meant that for over five months, users had to go without the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Seeing that BlackBerry’s top priority with its first Android phone is security, it refused to seed the update until it is sure that the Marshmallow build is as solid as a fortress.

It seems like the Canadian tech OEM is in the final stages of ensuring that the OS meets its high standards of security, as applications for the PRIV Marshmallow beta program are starting to be accepted.

If all goes well with the test group, then the official over-the-air (OTA) update roll-out will start rolling out soon enough.
